“ Oh my! Was recommended this restaurant and I'm so glad I stopped by for a solo dinner after a long day. Sat at the bar, the service was excellent by server and chefs. The fish was incredibly fresh, buttery, and the service fast and attentive. So fun to chat with the chefs as they were preparing food, they were so friendly and professional. I ordered the hamachi, cucumber salad, and rainbow roll. All delicious and fresh. Definitely a new spot for me! Can't wait to share with my family. ”
“ Fresh, high quality, and fast service! Ordered a spider roll, a Jenny roll and five different kinds of nigiri: scallop (Kaibashira), Oyster (Kaki), Aji (Striped Jack), Kanpachi (Amberjack) and Amaebi (Spot Prawn). Everything was super fresh and well-prepared + presented. Waitress showed great hospitality and explained the local beer offerings in detail as well. A real gem in Watsonville! House was completely packed for dinner both inside and outside. That's how you know it's a good place to eat! ”
“ Wonderful service. Awesom food. We came here for a frieinds birthday.Place was packed but service was great .We ordred a a lot of diferent stuff. As for me I got the two item combo and a soda. The combo comes with miso soup n a salad with seasami dressing and rice My 2 item choice was a california roll n also teriaki salmon. The food was delicious. We also got ice cream for desert.I chose strawberry .I recomend this place ”
“ Great food, great service. High quality and authentic Japanese cuisine. Would recommend! ”
“ Really great vegetarian selection. My partner said the meat dishes were tasty (chicken teriyaki and pork gyoza). The service was really stellar. Very friendly and accommodating. I liked the small setting and artwork. The vibes of the location are super fun. Seems like a family owned place? ”
“ Their food is amazing so expect to wait a while to be seated. Sometimes when you call to place a order you won't be able to so you actually need to physically go and wait between 30-45 minutes but again, it's worth the wait. They are friendly and as accommodating as the small little space will allow. Definitely make it a point to go just don't go if you're starving or take a snack while you wait! ”
“ Nice meal here! We got a variety of items, all of which were quite solid. Specifically we got some rolls, udon, and some dumplings to split. The dumplings were probably our favorite, but the spicy tuna roll was a close second. Is it the best sushi you'll ever have? Definitely not, but did the trick! ”
“ We were a bunch of guys from Los Angeles on a golf trip staying in an Airbnb nearby on the beach. We were hungry for some good food after 18 holes of golf. We were feeling like Asian food, but not quite sure what the quality would be like in this rural town of Watsonville. Saw this place on Yelp with good reviews and figured we would give it a try. The high rating they have on Yelp was legit. Most of us ordered combo meals for dinner. Everything was good. The teriyaki salmon, the tonkatsu, teriyaki chicken, tempura, sashimi. Good Japanese salad. We didn't get a chance to try the rolls. The place is pretty popular. It was totally packed on a Thursday night. We were lucky to be seated for our group of eight at dinner time. If we come back to Watsonville, would definitely come back to this place. Highly recommend. ”
“ Glad we chose this restaurant for dinner! We made the mistake of not making a reservation beforehand as it was completely packed on a Friday evening. There's indoor and outdoor covered seating with a heated patio. Luckily, there was open seating at the bar so my sister and I sat there. We indulged in a variety of dishes, including the mussel dynamite, jenny roll, philly roll, spicy scallop roll, spicy tuna roll, and Miyuki 3 dinner combo (Chicken Katsu, chicken teriyaki, & sashimi). The freshness of the fish was outstanding. I believe we were supposed to get miso soup and a salad with our dinner combo, but we didn't mind that our server forgot about it, given the generous portion sizes of our other selections. I didn't understand the purpose of the broccoli with the kewpie mayo that came with the dinner combo. The sushi rolls are not tightly packed so they do easily fall apart, but the rice they use is good. The rolls are also massive so you will get full from it. All of the ingredients they use are fresh. I probably would have liked if there was some sort of sauce on the rolls, but they're still tasty alone. Parking options include two small dedicated lots, but street parking is also available, albeit limited. In summary, the food was excellent, the staff friendly, service prompt, and the prices reasonable. ”
“ We had an excellent dinner here, I understand what all of the good reviews are about. It is not a large place, so definitely make reservations even on a weeknight. Parking was a bit painful as there is a tiny lot in front but that lot was blocked by some truck so it was tricky to get out of. There is parking around back, where there is a large mural with the Japanese flag, so that is an option and there is a back entrance so you can get inside from there, but otherwise look for street parking. The place can hold almost twice as many folks in good weather as there is a good sized back patio. We came on a Weds night and it was full, we didn't have a reservation and there were 4 parties ahead of us. We were fine with sitting at the sushi bar so we were able to sit there immediately. The chefs and servers were great. The owner is very friendly and nice, helped my friend navigate items that were vegan - on request they can make a tempura batter without eggs that was excellent, so if you are vegan you can request that - it takes some extra time so be patient. Chef also said that the wonton wrappers for their homemade gyoza might contain egg which was thoughtful. We started with the homemade veggie gyoza that had edamame and veggies in them. The gyoza were freshly grilled and delicious. My friend likes the fermented soybeans natto and they had them as an option as sushi or alone in a bowl on request, he got the sushi form and loved it. The vegetable tempura was excellent, with 5 kinds of vegetables, wonderfully light batter, cooked perfectly and a great dipping sauce. I had the dragon roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, and unagi - it was really excellent and had a generous helping of wasabi and ginger. A regular customer had a birthday and they turned out the lights to bring out a cupcake with a candle and everyone snag happy birthday, it was very sweet. Clearly many local regulars come here which is always a good sign. Super friendly and accommodating, delicious food and good atmosphere, everything you want for a good dinner. ”
